I remember the first time I heard about quiet luxury through a video on Instagram about a living space designed in a minimalist way that emphasizes simplicity and convenience for the owner. At that moment, I asked myself: “Why does a design that is less and simpler create a feeling of more and fulfillment?” From that, I started to learn more deeply about home interiors that carry this characteristic.
What Is Quiet Luxury and Why Has It Become Popular?
Quiet luxury (also known as stealth wealth in the interior world) is not showy or flashy, but it uses high quality materials and refined details to express luxury without needing to speak (Saint-Elien, 2023).
This trend has boomed across magazines and social media because it brings a feeling of peace and balance amid a busy life.
The Doubts Behind “Less Is More”
From my own observation and research, because this style has become a trend, many houses designed in this way today have become saturated and identical, losing their vibrancy and creating a sense of repetitive monotony.
An article on Architizer titled Quiet Luxury Is the Most Obnoxious Design Trend of the Century points out that the factor of “tasteful restraint” has now become a symbol to affirm social status, being wealthy without showing off (Finn, n.d.). This statement is quite reasonable because if a design only follows trends, it will lose its personalization.
In my opinion, quiet luxury does not mean eliminating all colors or personality, but rather it is a balance between minimalism and expression, showing the color of each individual.

The Future of Quiet Luxury
The quiet luxury design style will still be favored and remain timeless, but it needs to be developed better. The nature of this style is to emphasize minimalism, but that does not mean “soulless.” Therefore, designers will make changes to elevate this minimalist style to a new level, carrying more personal character and expressing the owner’s personality.
According to Homes & Gardens (2025), the next step of quiet luxury will be called “Colorful Quiet Luxury,” which gathers enough elements of elegance and soft color tones, emphasizing depth while maintaining sophistication (Olby, 2025).
To me, true values lie in the feeling of authenticity. The quiet luxury style will bring a new kind of distinction.
